Let me tell you a little about my journey with mindfulness...

Years ago, as a new mother struggling with then-undiagnosed PostPartum Depression, I figured the stress and overwhelm and misery I was experiencing were normal. I figured I could “fake it ‘till I make it,” power through…. and some day, things would get better.

But things didn’t get better.

What finally DID make things better was GETTING HELP.

And one thing my doctor recommended I do was practice mindfulness.

At first, I thought she was crazy. I have ALLTHETHINGS to do and now you want me to find time to DO NOTHING??? 

But I tried it. And continued trying it. 


That doesn't mean there weren't problems...

I had my struggles with:

* being quite certain I was doing it wrong
* resisting the temptation to skip meditating "just this one time because I'm really busy..."
* dealing with ALL THE THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS that kept popping up in my head
* feeling uncomfortable or bored or restless or sleepy every time I tried to meditate

Perhaps you’ve downloaded some meditation apps, or found some cool meditations on YouTube, but they don't seem to be "working." Because, as helpful as they can be, they can't provide you with a lot of support. Our entire group will meet once a week for one hour on an online call. I will lead a guided meditation and provide mindfulness instruction, and then we'll have lots of time for questions and checking in!
You will get one new guided audio meditation a week. We'll start with shorter meditations (5-10 minutes) and work our way up to 40-minute meditations.

What kind of time commitment is involved?
The formal content of the Mindful Mastermind is about 90 minutes a week (a one-hour call + a weekly lesson). In addition, you are expected to commit to a formal meditation practice each day, which could be 5 minutes or 40 minutes! (You will receive guided meditations to use).

In addition, you will have access to a members-only online forum to write and view posts, and you can choose to have a practice partner. These will give you additional opportunities to connect with our group.

Long answer made short: 90 minutes a week + daily practice + additional participation (forum, book group, etc.)
I'm relatively new to mindfulness. Is that okay?
Absolutely! In fact, this is a great way to begin your practice, with lots of support and one-on-one guidance!

When you register, you will immediately gain access to one of my online courses. If you are new to mindfulness, I would recommend Brilliant Mindful YOU, as it is designed specifically for beginners. The sooner you register, the more time you will have to work through the course and begin learning about mindfulness before the Mastermind begins.
What qualifies you to teach mindfulness?
I have practiced and studied mindfulness for several years. I currently teach mindfulness to children, teens, and adults. I have been trained in the Mindful Schools curriculum and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and I have completed a 300-hour, year-long training program to become a Mindful Schools Certified Instructor.

I taught high school for 17 years — the many courses I have taught include Psychology and World Religions. Additionally, I write about mindfulness on my popular blog Left Brain Buddha, which has over 25,000 unique visitors each month. As the Executive Director of Brilliant Mindfulness, I teach mindfulness to students, teachers, parents, and children.
Is there anyone who shouldn't take this course?
This program isn’t for everyone. Specifically, this program may not be for you if:

- you are looking for a program with a strong religious component (either Buddhist, Christian, or something else)

- you are not willing to put in the time to practice mindfulness on a daily basis

- you are struggling with significant depression or anxiety and are not currently in treatment — if this is the case, I strongly encourage you to contact a mental health provider (this course is not intended to replace therapy or other mental health services)​​​​​​​
Can you really learn mindfulness online?
I know, it seems a little high-tech for a low-tech practice! But there is great power in our ability to connect with others from all over the globe in mindfulness practice, even if it is online! During our coaching sessions, we will use an online platform where we can all see and hear each other, which can create a deep level of intimacy and trust.

For many of us, this is the ideal way to learn mindfulness, for we may not have programs in our communities yet, or we may not have the time to attend a class on someone else's schedule.
What is your refund and cancellation policy?
I have worked hard to make this the BEST mindfulness coaching program I can. But I understand it may not work for everyone. If, after the first week, you realize that it's just not working for you, email me and you will receive a full refund.

No refunds will be issued after the first week.
What if I can't make a group coaching call?
All of the group coaching calls will be recorded and will be available for you to watch at any time.
When will we have our one-on-one calls? How do those work?
After you register, I will send you a link to sign up for your one-on-on calls. You will have the opportunity to choose the days and times that we meet. For those calls, we will connect online with Skype or Zoom (so we can see each other) or via phone, which ever you prefer.
What if I've already read the book that you pick for the book group?
Just let me know and I'll hand-pick a book for YOU! You can still join in on our conversations about the book the group is reading, and we can chat about your book (if you'd like) during our personal coaching sessions.
What information about me will be shared with other members of the Mastermind?
The crucial component of the Mastermind is connecting with other members, but I also understand the need to respect privacy. Your personal information (including your email) will not be shared with other members of the group unless you give me permission to do so. During our coaching sessions, you can choose to access the call via phone, so your name and face will not be visible.

That said, I will encourage everyone to be as open and receptive as possible to engaging with the Mastermind. It is an essential part of your experience!
Will this program eliminate all my stress and make me happy all the time?
No. Mindfulness is not a cure-all. It does not eliminate the stressors in our lives. The power of mindfulness comes from learning to live in wise relationship with our thoughts and emotions. Studies indicate that people who practice mindfulness do experience less stress and report greater levels happiness.

​​​​​​​That said, no one is happy all the time, and no one can avoid stressful events! As with many things in life, your mileage with mindfulness may vary. But this program will give you brilliant guidance and direction for the journey! I like to say that mindfulness transforms how we relate to our life — and that’s life-changing!​​​​​​​
